Dark Souls Game PS3 Product Description
Dark Souls is the spiritual successor to the widely acclaimed action RPG Demon's Souls by From Software. Dark Souls is a brand new action RPG (role playing game) set in a rich, dark fantasy universe. Tense dungeon crawling, fearsome enemy encounters and groundbreaking online features combine for a truly unique RPG experience. Dark Souls breaks down barriers with a seamless world design that encourages exploration and fosters an adaptable gameplay experience. As players encounter terrifying enemies and discover new areas, the unerring foundation of challenge and reward permeates to offer an unparalleled sense of achievement.
Demons, spawned by the wrath of gods, have brought darkness to the world. Stricken by the curse of the undead, many have lost their souls. Players must battle hideous demons and unimaginable monsters to collect souls and find the Eternal Flame of Life, which is losing its power to restore souls and keep the eternal night at bay.
- Seamless environments in a dark fantasy universe: abandoned castles infested with the undead, labyrinthine catacombs, a world of sunken ruins, haunted forests, vast dungeons and magical lakes are all there for the courageous to explore at will
- Expanded RPG elements: plentiful options to customise characters with different equipment, weapons and spells will provide players a deep RPG experience
- The Beacon Fire: placed at strategic points throughout the game world, the Beacon Fire serves as a Recovery, Restart and Sharing Point
- Unique online features
Reviews of Dark Souls Game PS3
The game play is very similar to demon souls except with the additions of some extra attacks and how there is no mana but rather spells and miracles can only be cast a certain amount of time before needing to be reset at a bone fire. The mechanic of the bonfire in Dark Souls make the game play quite different to Demon Soul's, so though it will feel familiar there should be no sense of Dark Souls just being a complete repeat of Demon Souls.
The game brings a lot more exploring gameplay then demon souls thanks to the bonfires, replacing the nexus which was like a home base; going down into dark tunnels or crossing bridges into new environments will make you feel both intrigued and hopeful for new gear but will also have you terrified if whether you will be killed by some new enemy character type and lose all the souls you have worked so hard to get.
The game is punishing to any mistake you make, but it is what makes it so rewarding when the game develops you into a complete badass!
There are some negatives however in the experience of Dark Souls. Coming from Demon souls you might feel as if Dark Souls is a lot harder but not due to reasons such as enemies hitting harder, or enemies being more complicated but rather there are situations in which you will die and it will feel unfair. In Demon Souls you always knew that you died because you made a mistake, but in Dark Souls if can sometimes feel like there was no way or thing you could of done different to avoid being killed or severely damage, you just have to die that first time. This could be considered apart of the trial and error formula but in Demon Souls by the end you learnt how to play demon souls and you would develop the skills whether it be hearing for foot steps or looking around a corner with the camera to avoid such things, there were things you could do where as even by the end of Dark Souls no matter how good you are there will be a few situations where will have to accept taking damage or potentially being killed the first time you cross the path.
Another small negative is how spell casters in my opinion have been made even more unbearable. The fact that spell and miracles do not use mana but rather there is a limited number of uses before you can not use the spell until you use a bonfire, which then resets all enemies is rather aggravating. It makes being a full blown spell caster practically impossible and in a way makes it feel as if your choice to be a true mage in the game is taken away, but if you like melee combat then no problem at all!!!!!!!!
