Crackdown 2 is an interesting beast... it has to follow on from the open world sandbox succes of the first game but it also wants to have some innovation (not just criminals this time, now there's mutant aliens to fight, for instance) and newer weapons, skills, combat system etc.. it's largely done well, but some players feel there aren't new enough ideas to justify a second trip. Art is still beautiful however. And hey, if you liked the first one, there's nothing wrong with having more of the same in the second...

Crackdown 2 puts you behind the controls of a genetically engineered super soldier, capable of bounding over sky scrapers, throwing buses over his head, sprinting faster then a speeding car, and ever flight, all these abilities come in time, and they're all very fun to use, but without any decent story or structure, the game really does feel like you're just running around shooting things, and if that's what you happen to be into, well order now!, but if it's not, i would steer clear of this game, as it does get repetitive and dull over time.

I'm going to assume that most people rating this game as '0' are those that dont agree with exclusives. This game covers so many genres, there is something for everyone. Anything below 6 is drawn from a chip on the shoulder of the reviewer. Yes the graphics are nothing like RDR, FF, GoW... but that is the point. It's a comic book appeal. A look it has achieved with no flaw. A poor storyline? It does not matter, the Crackdown series has never been about a story. It's about creating your own mayhem with the tools Ruffian have provided you with. No freedom? It may not have the freedom of RDR, but then where in RDR can i attach a mag grenade to a helicopter, and another to a vehicle occupied by a friend, then watch them as they are carried off helplessly? You need to look at different games and apprecitate the differences, not draw crazy irrelevant comparisons from them. At the end of the day, Crackdown 2 is a lazy sunday afternoon pick-up that makes you want it to be Sunday everyday

When you have a game that was lauded over its ability to make traversing the game world so enjoyable why would you then decide to destroy most of the game world neutralising this? Crackdown 2 was made on a tight schedule and it shows; the game world is the same, as is the game play. Basically they added zombies and shipped it. Fun, just nowhere near the heights of the first.

A very poor sequel to a fantastic original game. Shame how much potential Crackdown 2 could've had, but instead they chose to squander time and money by recycling assets and literally copy/pasting the entire city, save for zombies. Worth a tenner, but I wouldn't bother at this point.
