Reviews of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 III Game Xbox 360

Frantic, fast paced, non-stop action! Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is the definitive version of the famous crossover series... Play as your favourite characters from both the Marvel and Capcom universes... My personal favourites Dante, Trish and Vergil from the Devil May Cry series, and Spider-Man, The Hulk, and Wolverine can all fight against each other in this dream team mash-up!

This is a MUST HAVE game! I own many games, and while a lot of those end up in the pile of shame, UMvC3 is not one of them... I own it on PS3, Xbox360 and Vita. It is immensely enjoyable and it's played by virtually all of my real life gamer friends. The concept is that you choose a team of 3 characters and you have to beat your opponent who also has a team of 3 characters in a tag-team wrestling style(or if they die you just automatically play as the next one until nobody is left). Most of the characters feel like they have a very unique playing style... for example Spider-Man can throw an opponent with a strand of his webbing, and then extend the damage by chasing after them with his speed/webbing. Captain America on the other hand can charge through projectiles with his shield, but also throw it to hit someone in the back like the comics. If Phoenix dies while she has 5 levels of super meter, she gets resurrected as Dark Phoenix and becomes immensely dangerous. Each team can activate "X-Factor" once per game, and it basically increases your damage and speed and gets stronger/lasts longer with the fewer characters left on your team. What's really surprising is that so many characters are viable at high level play(the previous VS games were mostly dominated by a handful of characters). I HIGHLY recommend this game, but if you don't take my word for it, watch good players play on Youtube. It is immensely exciting to watch good games, as well as being insanely fun to play. It IS more technical than Street Fighter... you have to learn 3 characters... basically "easy to learn, hard to master", and the in-built mission mode can quickly teach you the basic way to play a character. It's not perfectly balanced obviously. Some characters can kill you from one opening attack or if you make one or two mistakes, while others can't. It can be very "high stakes", but that's also part of why it's so fun(and you can change the damage setting if you're just having fun with friends). If you find similarly skilled people to play with, you're going to have a good time. The game also has two characters locked on the disk(Jill Valentine from Resident Evil 5, and Shuma Gorath), which you need to pay about $5 each to unlock "as DLC". I think the game is so good that it's worth an extra $10 on the retail price, but it rubs a lot of people the wrong way that it's structured like this. I also recommend buying an arcade stick if you can afford it, as it's my preferred standard(though you can happily play without one) As I said, this is a MUST BUY. If I could only have one game on Xbox 360, this would be it! =)

A decent fighting game with great graphics and a good buy if you don't already have Marvel vs. Capcom 3, annoying how Capcom continues to do this, bringing out multiple versions of the same game in a way punishes early adopters. Even with this version there are still 2 DLC characters to buy, what happened to the awesome amount of characters and unlock system of MVC2 A good game but feels watered down.

If you do not have Marvel vs. Capcom 3, then you should definitely purchase this enhanced version. However, if you already own the original, then you need to consider if it's worth a re-purchase for the extras (mostly the 12 extra characters).

Aside from all that, this is a solid (but chaotic) fighter. It's not as technical as Street Fighter IV, but playing with the cult Marvel (Rocket Racoon!) and Capcom (Mike Haggar!) characters is a blast.

I can understand feeling a bit gripped if you've already purchased the base game, as this came out barely afterwards, it seems, and packs a bunch more content. If you have yet to purchase this game, then obviously this is the edition to go with - bunch more stuff included, as described above. In terms of the game itself, it's decent. Not the pinnacle of fighting games, but a good roster, and a lot of fun.
