Bananagrams Game

A lot more fun than normal scrabble. I like how rearranging the tiles in your crossword is a major part of this game. This game is great for non-gamers and is one that my whole family is happy to play together. I gave this to my son for his birthday and he really enjoys it, he doesn't notice that it is educational though.

Bananagrams is a fresh take on the classic format of Scrabble. Fast-paced, engaging and all in all a very enjoyable game. With almost zero setup time and requirements (other than a somewhat flat surface) it makes for a great companion to throw into a bag and take with you. The game also scales better than most; the head to head nature of a 2 player game is just as enjoyable as playing with a larger group. A must have for anyone who is a fan of word games.

A real-time Scrabble, Bananagrams is a more exciting and enjoyable game than its predecessor. Scrabble rewards careful calculation and often feels like a game about mathematics rather than words; Bananagrams, which eschews Scrabble's point scoring system, rewards quick thinking, spatial reasoning and positioning, and (of course) an extensive vocabulary. I have found that in Scrabble, there was often a long down-time between turns, as I had to consider new words on the board that would affect my own. Because Bananagrams is played in real-time and each player has their own 'board', there is no down-time at all - just a mad rush to use up all of your letter tiles. I would recommend Bananagrams to gamers and non-gamers alike, as it is a fun and exciting family game that can be played with both young children and grandparents. Just be prepared to use a dictionary, and argue over whether 'aa' is a word (which it is; 'aa' is a type of viscous, rough lava).

Gives a bit of life into scrabble, makes it far more fast paced and reliant on yourself rather than what other people are putting down. That doesnt mean you dont feel like you are competing against others though, there is a rush to finish first and see who got the best words
