An expansion to the original game which seems less horror and more action. Alan Wake American Nightmare is a continuation of the Alan Wake story as he fights his evil self (Mr Scratch). The game mechanics are the same using light to stun then kill your enemies. Less atmospheric than the original game, in this you have the option to use a variety of weapons to take down the various 'taken'. The graphics, soundtrack and voice acting are very good. This is a short experience that can be finished in a few hours, but has new modes to extend the game. A great effort and a must play for fans of the original.

First of all, if you loved Alan Wake, definitly get this. It's not quite Alan Wake 2, more of an Alan Wake 1.5 ... the story continues over from the last one, now Alan's trapped in a TV series he wrote for before he became a famous writer and the bad guy is ... himself (a darker version of Alan called Mr. Scratch). The game is openworld and not amazingly huge, but there's a cool gimmick about the whole world 'resetting' in a time loop making Alan go through it all again, this time knowing more about it than last time. It's really great fun, and there's a few Horde (Fight Until Dawn) modes too...
