Golden Axe Beast Rider Game PS3

Golden Axe Beast Rider delivers action-RPG thrills as a small band of Riders embark on an epic adventure to recruit allies, expose the enemy and prevent the annihilation of their breed. Delivering an intense and unique combat experience, players charge into battle on the backs of ferocious beasts or take their chances with the enemy while on foot. Fighting skill, wits and even magic are all called into action as players immerse themselves in the struggle to defeat an evil intent on enslaving the remains of civilisation.

  • Beast-Riding and Savage Combat - Players will cut down enemies while riding on an array of deadly, magical beasts.
  • Brutal Melee Action - With swords and axes, players will unleash barbaric killing moves and dismembering attacks.
  • Spells & Magic Weapons - Weapon upgrades and powerful unlockable elemental-based spells and magic will give players the advantage in battle.
  • Harsh & Desolate Landscapes - There is a huge, ravaged, destructible world to explore... and survive.
  • Classic Golden Axe Legacy - As the young warrior, Tyris Flare, players will encounter familiar friends and foes, and collect power-ups from pesky gnomes in a magical world of beasts.
  • New Story Details Revealed - Players will discover events that took place before the original Golden Axe storyline as Tyris Flare, the famous half-Gladiator/half-Barbarian heroine, begins the epic quest to avenge her tribe.

Ride 'em cowgirl! This game is a third person action adventure. In control of the female protagonist Tyris you must travel the land and killing everything in your way make it to end to avenge your family. Brutal combat including dismemberment and monster riding makes for some mesmerising mashing of buttons. Just brutal. just fun!

I actually had a bit of fun with this one. Yes, it revived the Golden Axe IP just to make sure it would never happen again, but there's still some solid hack and slash action here. It's a very glitchy game though, even after the patch. Huge amounts of screen tearing too, have fun!

This is quite an old game by the time of this writing but right off the bat, let's just say it could have been much better. The game showed lots of great promise ranging from ideas, fighting system, story elements and the world they created (with some winks to the original too). But somewhere in all that, Secret Level just couldn't pull off the execution properly. What is there does unfortunately feel very unpolished in terms of controls, gameplay and visuals (the pre-rendered stuff still looks good). One good example, the best and most fun boss fight is the last one. Sorry, but all the boss fights should have been fun and enagaging but they were all just very average. The beast riding part could have been a little better but it does add to the game. The actual key on-foot combat is okay and requires good timing for evasions/parries leading to counter attacks/finishers. Certain attacks can only be parried and certain attacks can only to avoided with evasion (colour coded). Doing one or the other at the wrong time will leave you to take a hit. At the right time, you can utilise finishers or stronger attacks on the enemy. The timing is a little strict (you can't just hold the buttons(s) down) so there is a slight challenge there. I do have to say that I enjoyed the game enough to finish it, but it left a lot wanting. The story was setting up for a pretty interesting sequel too (the original game maybe?? Or a new original story?), but that will be a tale that will never be told. It's not a bad game, but it needs a lot to make it better. 2 1/2 stars feels low but 3 also feels a bit high. 2 and 3/4??
