Customer Reviews

Some people don't like these 'Interactive narrative' style games, but I really enjoy them! If you're the kind of person who needs direct, constant input with the character to enjoy the game, it's not for you. For anyone else, here's some Pros and Con'nors! Pros: Great story, even if you do have to suspend disbelief here and there and ignore a few changes to the abilities and limitations of characters from time to time. Most QTE's flow very well with the game and the narrative and aren't overly impossible, nor will tripping up on one button press end your whole run. Connor. The sound track is second to none! Very fitting and flowing and still beautiful. Connor! I've heard some people knock the acting, but I couldn't name a single scene that felt phoned in or hamed. CONNOR! The game shows you the flow chart of choices and marks specific choices that will change the games outcome... And they are like a Spider Web! Massive, far reaching and extensive in many different ways for all of the three characters. Cons: Sometimes choices don't follow the players thinking. For example, taking a gun doesn't always mean I want to point it at someone... Sometimes I just don't want someone else to have a gun! The metaphor is laid on a little thick, and it kinda blurs the line of good taste... I get it, Detroit, its allegory for Black Slavery, but do you think a comparison between black people and the tough choice of deciding if machines can really have emotions and souls was the way to go?... I feel like black people have souls. They invented "Soul Music" and "Soul Food"! Sometimes the dialog can be a little misleading. There was one section where a character went out of their way to mention how action X would be fatal, then, shortly after, action X was considered the correct choice and wouldn't have ended in a fatality, while all other options would have. There was no new information given, just: "Hey, don't do X, you'll die." "You got it!" "Uh oh! They found us! Should we do Y, Z or X?!" "Well, you JUST told me X will kill us all, soooo, Y?" BAD CHOICE! CHARACTER OVER! INSERT SAD MUSIC! Overall? If you're okay with reloading from the Flow Chart when you get the one or two moments of: "No, no! I didn't mean do THAT! I thought 'Happy' would mean act happy, not accuse the person of being happy over the crime!", then it's a great game!
