Product Description

Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth (with Exoplanets Map Pack DLC) PC CD Key Download for Steam

Includes Exoplanets Map Pack DLC

In Sid Meier’s Civilization Beyond Earth, you will write the next chapter for humanity as you lead your people into a new frontier and create a new civilization in space. Explore and colonize an alien planet, research new technologies, amass mighty armies, build incredible Wonders and shape the face of your new world.

As you embark on your journey you must make critical decisions. From your choice of sponsor and the make-up of your colony, to the ultimate path you choose for your civilization, every decision opens up new possibilities.

  • Seed the Adventure: Establish your cultural identity by choosing one of eight different expedition sponsors, each with its own leader and unique gameplay benefits. Assemble your spacecraft, cargo & colonists through a series of choices that directly seed the starting conditions when arriving at the new planet.
  • Colonize an Alien World: Explore the dangers and benefits of a new planet filled with dangerous terrain, mystical resources, and hostile life forms unlike those of Earth. Build outposts, unearth ancient alien relics, tame new forms of life, develop flourishing cities and establish trade routes to create prosperity for your people.
  • Technology Web: To reflect progress forward into an uncertain future, technology advancement occurs through a series of nonlinear choices that affect the development of mankind. The technology web is organized around three broad themes, each with a distinct victory condition.
  • Quest System: Quests are injected with fiction about the planet, and help to guide you through a series of side-missions that will aid in resource collection, unit upgrades, and advancement through the game.
  • Orbital Layer: Build and deploy advanced military, economic and scientific satellites that provide strategic offensive, defensive and support capabilities from orbit.
  • Unit Customization: Unlock different upgrades through the tech web and customize your units to reflect your play style.
  • Multiplayer: Up to 8 players can compete for dominance of a new alien world.
  • Mod support: Robust mod support allows you to customize and extend your game experience.

Customer Reviews

This coming from a huge fan of the previous Civ games, Beyond Earth simply fell short for me in all aspects. Bland maps, repetitive 'alien' (Barbarians) involvement and a completely unimproved AI model for other civilizations makes this essentially a poor skin pack for Civ 5. The extended tech tree is okay, but ultimately not that involved. The feeling of progressing through the years and the technologies that came with previous Civ games just isn't there. Even with all the technological advances, not much changes overall, and you'll find yourself getting bored quickly. They changed things they didn't need to, and didn't change they things they could/should have.

It's a bit like Civ 5 but with a neat spin on it. Instead of progressing through known history you have to progress into the future, adapting your research and expansion to the planet around you. In singleplayer I find that I prefer Civ 5's style of setting yourself a goal and building towards it but in multiplayer it's really interesting to work around what you and your opponents are doing to get the most out of the game.

A Sid Meiers master piece! This game is excellent in all aspects truly a well made strategy game. I enjoy both the single and multiplayer options due to the change in nature of approaching the game. Nothing more can be said other than it is a perfect and a must play game!

Essentially the spiritual successor for the much loved classic, "Sid Meiers: Alpha Centuri" but built upon the Civilization V engine and mechanics. While appearing at first to be very similar to Civilization V, Beyond Earth offers a range of features to truly set it apart from its peer. Upgradable units, a non-linear technology "web", multiple alignments and even different planet and faction start options add a wealth of replay-ability and diversity to every playthrough. I've been playing Sid Meiers games since i was a child, and I must admit, Beyond Earth is almost like a dream come true for the franchise!
