Product Description

Betrayal at House on the Hill Board Game

Betrayal at House on the Hill quickly builds suspense and excitement as players explore a haunted mansion of their own design, encountering spirits and frightening omens that foretell their fate. With an estimated one hour playing time, Betrayal at House on the Hill is ideal for parties, family gatherings or casual fun with friends. Betrayal at House on the Hill is a tile game that allows players to build their own haunted house room by room, tile by tile, creating a new thrilling game board every time. The game is designed for three to six people, each of whom plays one of six possible characters. Secretly, one of the characters betrays the rest of the party, and the innocent members of the party must defeat the traitor in their midst before it’s too late! Betrayal at House on the Hill will appeal to any game player who enjoys a fun, suspenseful, and strategic game. Betrayal at House on the Hill includes detailed game pieces, including character cards, pre-painted plastic figures, and special tokens, all of which help create a spooky atmosphere and streamline game play.

I played a friends copy once and was hooked! I bought a copy straight away. I love how much variety this game has. You have no idea what is going to happen or who will be against you. So many different scenarios that make this game huge

A fun co-operative game, with a twist! The betrayer mechanic makes the game, as part way through the game (usually about half way, although it varies depending on how the dice roll) one of the players becomes a betrayer. Best played with 4-5 players (6 is too many I've found), the game varies quite significantly depending on the play group and the scenario you unlock. While some scenarios are better than others, with the right group it's usually pretty corny fun. The only major downside is that if an inexperienced or reluctant player becomes the betrayer, they can make the game unpleasant (as they usually have secret information the other players can't know, they cant really ask for help, and they can become confused on how they are best meant to enact their strategy). This means the game can either drag or be too easy for the other players (it seems paradoxical, but often confused "traitors" just make the game go longer, just like in BSG). I'll also add that some scenarios can be a little "buggy" and I highly encourage anyone to make sure they have all the FAQs and updates printed out and with the manuals so they can be referred to in case something seems off. With all that being said, the game is really quite unique!

This game is all about the theme, if only for the theme it would be an near perfect game, however the player pieces are not good at all and neither are the scoring tiles. Some of the situations in the pay book are better suited to lower player number while others suit more players and there is no way of knowing this until your playing it. here is so much replay ability and variety in the game its essentially a different game each time you play. I really enjoy the secret traitor and co op scenarios but the real fun of the game comes from role play. This is a very enjoyable game and i highly recommend . I wish the expansion actually improved he weaker areas though.

my friends and i loved cabin in the woods and this game allowed us to live that with the way the haunts are randomized. with the traitor not always being the haunt revealer it adds means if your rolls are always terrible (like mine) you dont get stuck with being a traitor all the time.

As some one who doesn't play board games regularly, I really enjoyed this. The first part eases play into the world, and helps you to understand the abilities and limitations of your character. It also gradually builds suspense as you play, as stakes become higher further into the game. Once you reveal your traitor, the game really picks up. Being apart of the team requires co-op play, however as the traitor, you face more of a challenge. Definitely keen to get the expansion, which adds a new level to the house.
