Product Description

Memoir '44

Published in collaboration with the Mission for the 60th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings & Liberation of France, Memoir '44 is a uniquely fun, simple and engaging game. Designed to commemorate the efforts and sacrifices of the men & women of the Second World War, we trust it will provide all who play it with a sense of history and the desire to learn more about that greatest generation. Our fondest hope is that it will make you want to transmit this unique historical heritage onto younger generations. To that effect, we encourage you to visit the numerous web sites we will be progressively featuring on our Links page. They offer an endless treasure trove of information on these events that shaped our history. We also invite you to visit the beaches, villages and museums of Normandy, where over 1,000 ceremonies are going to be held over the coming months. Memoir '44 is a unique historical game where players command a horde of little plastic Army men facing-off in dozens of WWII battles on an oversize hex game board. Each battle scenario mimics the historical terrain, troop placements and objectives of each army. Deploying forces through a variety of Command cards, the smart commander uses the unique skills of his units - infantry, paratroopers, tanks, artillery, commandos and resistance fighters - to its greatest strength. Easy to learn and fast-paced, Memoir '44 requires strategic card play, timely dice rolling and an aggressive, yet flexible battle plan to achieve victory!

Superb 2-player war game. Accessible rules and gameplay make it much more suitable for casual gamers rather than the hardcore games such as Advanced Squad Leader et al. The game board and game pieces taps into the awesome fun of playing with plastic soldiers as a kid. Requires a bit of luck at times but that's true of real war as well. Recommended.

A great World war two game, and a great 2 player game. The way the card play meshes with out the board is divided into sections gives the player tough management decisions to make, which is a good thing. One down side is that the set up can take quite a bit of time. Nice components, though.

THE BEST GAME EVER! Oh, I need to write more in this review. This is my favourite game of all time which is saying something as it is only 2 player and therefore misses out on some great group dynamics (although I do have a great gaming group so I have played this as an 8 player game of pure awesome). This game is so balanced and has great moments of wanting to press your attack but you can't. You almost win but are beaten in the last roll of the dice. In fact this is how almost every game I have played is won, by the slimmest of margins. And that is wonderful. And when you sit there having won or lost you realise that you don't care, it was just fun. And suddenly you want to talk about what just happened and all the secret thoughts and plans you had for the last half hour. It is as close to a perfect game as I have ever played. Buy this now.

a very good tactical war game based on the Normandy landings of world war 2. it uses a very simple card mechanism to order troops and use special power cards. only down side would be that the set up can take a while. the game also has many expansions which means you can really home into whatever front youre most interested in with memoir 44.

Memoir '44 is a fantastic 2 player game, which can be modified to play with more players. Re-enacting real scenarios from World War II adds an additional layer of detail to the game. The diversity of the game board with a variety of scenarios is fantastic, and you can even create your own scenarios to add to it even more. The game does rely on luck a bit too much, which is slightly disappointing, but it is so simple and accessible it is great for newer board game players.
