Splatoon is a four-on-four multiplayer action game that drops players into a battle arena that two teams strive to claim as their own. Players of each team spray ink on the ground around them while blotting out the opposing team members in turf war competitions.
Each character can turn into a squid and swim through his or her own team’s ink – gliding up and down walls and under floors – with ease. Using intuitive controls made possible with the Wii U GamePad’s gyro sensor makes it easy to look around and aim, and the on-screen map displays the entire arena at a glance, both of which feel great and redefine multiplayer action.
Team up and take on other teams in an action-filled battle to cover the level with as much ink as possible. Spray walls to access hard-to-reach areas.
Covering more territory with ink unlocks powered-up super weapons that can be used to attack rivals or cover more turf.
Strategy is everything. Defeat enemies to splatter them in an explosion of ink, covering more turf for your team. But choose wisely: Players who only go after the enemy might find their turf redecorated in their enemies' colours.
Refill ink tanks, hide from opponents, or move faster by turning into a squid and diving into the ink with the tap of a button.
Select between multiple control options on the Wii U GamePad controller, including using gyroscopic controls to look around, allowing for better aiming and control.
Hop online and battle in four-on-four matches.

If you own a switch Buy Splatoon 2 instead.
With that out of the way this game is a pure joy to play it takes 30 minutes to get use to the controls (I suggest beating the story mode first as it has unlocks in it anyway) The story mode is a little disappointing and I wish they had added some of the stuff from story mode into multiplayer but this is very much a multiplayer game don't buy it just for the story mode unless you plan on speed running there's just not enough content. Multiplayer is a blast and also super kid friendly. I'm terrible at shooters but found myself finding this fairly easy to play a do decent at. Again if you own a switch though just skip this game for Splatoon 2 as it's just a better game.

A novel concept for a multiplayer third person shooter. Use ink to take out enemies, conquer the battlefield and submerge into to hide and reach new areas. The tactical possibilities are intriguing, while all being cheerfully colourful at the same time. A game still worth owning today.

One of the first original Nintendo games in a while. Splatoon takes away from the typical shooter format and it definitely for the best. Although you have to wait for a while before you can really sink your teeth into this game, its is well worth it. I think the best thing about Splatoon is that they are constantly adding new Weapons and Maps to the game, for free! Definitely on of the best games out there if you're a casual like me!

Splatoon is the new shooter introduced by Nintendo for WiiU. At first, I was a bit worried about how the game would roll, but since I started playing it, I def fell in love with it. Graphics are amazing, gameplay is purely smooth. Lots of strategy and skills need to be adapted . The more you play it, the more you discover you can do better. It is a solid shooter game but with colors instead of guns. It is no wonder why it received 2 awards on Game Awards 2015 as The Best Shooter of 2015 and The Best Multiplayer of 2015 (beating COD, Halo and Fallout4). This game is worth all praise it can get. Leave your boring COD and casual game, and get on Splatoon NOW! It is worth buying a WiiU console just for this game!
