Deceived by the forces of evil into prematurely bringing about the end of the world, War - the first Horseman of the Apocalypse - stands accused of breaking the sacred law by inciting a war between Heaven and Hell. Dishonored and stripped of his powers, War must return to Earth to search for the truth and punish those responsible.
Hunted by a vengeful group of Angels, War must take on the forces of Hell, forge uneasy alliances with the very demons he hunts, and journey across the ravaged remains of the Earth on his quest for vindication. But the answers he seeks will reveal a deep conspiracy in which War is just a pawn in the eternal battle between Heaven and Hell.

Darksiders is described as a God of War clone though I feel it has more going for than that - it taps into the existing mythology of the apocalypse in a fun little fighter with plenty of skill and weapon unlocks to be had and some great eyecandy.. if you want something a bit different from the usual beat em up Darksiders is worth a look.. especially since it now has a sequel to follow up with..

This game is often described as "Zelda meets God of War" and, you know, I really can't argue with that too much. It contains the same sort of Zelda world, in which you traverse dungeon, usually unlocking weapons kills that allow you to access previously inaccessible areas. Even if you aren't a fan of the art style, don't let that prevent you from playing an excellent game.
