Many people were very critical of Final Fantasy XIII and think this sequel to be an improvement, however I actually enjoyed the first one better despite its relative linearity. I sorely missed the freedom to choose from 6 different characters to comprise your party and felt that being limited to just two (plus a monster) this time round was a letdown. The sequel's story is also lacking and requires major suspension of disbelief. However the great paradigm shift battle system remains and overall Final Fantasy XIII-2 is still a good game.

set 3 years after the end of the 2009 title final fantasy XIII players set out as Sarah Lightning's sister to rescue her, not your typical FF title as you only have 2 "main" characters and a 3rd spot you can fill with a monster (which there are hundreds to choose from) combat is better, the crystariam is re-worked and not as linear as the last games being able to travel through time both back and forward many side quests and the typical "Casino" and "Arena maby 15 hours to complete and easily 50+ to %100 the game

It is truly very sad to see the downward trend the once great and now lacklustre Final Fantasy games of this gaming generation are taking. Although this a great game for newcomers fans of the past Final fantasy series will see what I am saying when I say that this game lacks what makes a great Final Fantasy game. The truly great Final Fantasy games had wide open explorable worlds, an intriguing story and an abundance of new and fun mini games. This game on the other hand was very linear, although it does open up later on but that's way too late and the story is just not intriguing at all. All in all I recommend this game to be played but it is definetly not going to invite you back for multiple play throughs.

An excellent improvement over the first "13" game, all the issues that you had with XIII are gone, Linearity? Lack of sidequests? No DLC? No backtracking? Difficult to follow story? Hope being a whiny little b-- *Ahem* Yes, all those things have been rectified in a fantastic way. XIII-2 is exactly as a sequel should be, and is now one of my favourite in the whole FF series.
