I thought that i wouldn't like this because it didn't look that good but this was an amazing game. the graphics are good and it's a bit like a gta game set in Hong Kong. it a free roam game and there is many different jobs to do. Recommended Buyers: Gta fans or people looking for a good free roam game.

Sleeping Dogs is a fantastic break from the serious tone set by GTA 4 (it was released prior to GTA 5) and the absurd-tone set by Saints Row. You play an undercover police officer, Wei Shen, as he attempts to infiltrate the Sun On Yee. The game explores the duality of Wei Shen as he balances the life of a Triad member and police officer; and masters it beautifully. The action stays true to Hong Kong action movies by having over-the-top acting and stunts that doesn't overstay its welcome and the narrative grips the player and brings the whole game a serious overtone. Highly recommended game!

great sand box game despite the fact its missing alot of what made true crimes streets of NYC a good game
this game is heavily story driven, you play as an under cover cop in a stylised Hong Kong and even though its not an exact representation of the city it does paint the picture nicely for the plot is a joy to cruise around.
the game has 3 strong features all heavily based in Action, 1. shoot outs feel amazing with boiling point like action abilities and max payne slow time mechanics, 2. the Fighting carries over from the original True Crimes series taking on a more batman arkham approach but still remains a joy when you bash that annoying enemies head into a fish tank, 3. and new to the series (or to the genre, ignoring Assassins Creed) is Parkour chases sequences, there is something really awesome about having that old chinese/japanese cop movie action chase sequence.
graphics & sound: look great and despite some areas didnt have me going what an eye sore. the sound truly captures a hong kong vibe with street vendors actual chinese dialogue (most of the script is in english but its jumps in and out of chinese)
closing comments: after finally finishing the game in which I must say I actually grew to like some of the generic characters and wei shen struggle to do the right thing while dealing with the constant reminder he is stabbing all these people in the back, the story gets better and better as lines begin to blur and Wei starts to find it harder and harder to see right from wrong.
great game but I kinda wish they kept the cop mechanics (arresting people, experience system from TC:NYC and cop jobs) but sadly there is non of that which leaves nothing in the line for re playability, but at the same time I started this review saying the game was very story driven and because square brought the IP for the game but not the Name the probably had to remove the cop elements to make seem less like a true crimes game.
it was worth the wait and hopefully we see another one on the horizon in the form of triad wars... the game shows the start to a good competitor in the sand box crime games and considering the story to this game is alot darker then any of the sand box its well worth the admission.

In my opinion, Sleeping Dogs is by far the best "Grand Theft Auto Clone" ever! A great combination of arcade style driving, sharp kung fu and very responsive shooting mechanics! The missions in which on-foot chases occur are thrilling and the parkour style of roaming the city is awesome fun! Buy this game!

This game on its own merits is deinifitely a good game. However to say its a 10/10 is not doing other open world games justice. While i found this game very entertaining, and the missions really great i knew it only had a limited potential. Looking around hong kong for jade statues to upgrade your melee combat along with some cool cars and combat scenes where about the only thing i had fun with. It seemed to me to take all the good things from games such as GTA, Mafia II, Saints row and to a less extend Just cause and mash it into one. Whilst being fun they weren't complete in the way it ran and didnt run smoothly. Was a good distraction until GTA V comes out.
