This game is rated 18+ for a reason; the extremely high amount of gore which is the hallmark of the Mortal Kombat series. Some of the gruesome fatalities have a dark sense of humor to them and some of them are just over the top gory and violent. This game is not for those that don’t like seeing gore in video games. The game itself is extremely polished, with silky smooth graphics and frame rates which makes the game look absolutely gorgeous. The controls are tight and require fast fingers to pull off some of the more complex combos (you will probably want to use the D-pad instead of the left stick). With many characters to choose from, including the new characters from the XL version, and 3 variations for each one (four, in the case of Triborg) you will definitely find a fighter that you like, with a move set that you like. The story is decently long and challenging for a fighting game. This game is probably the best fighting game I have played.

Fantastic game. Story mode is length and robust, with a wide variety of characters and locations to keep the game entertaining. In addition to the campaign, you can do a wide range of towers, all of which allow you to test out every fighter against a whole range of characters. Add a fantastic multiplayer mode and tonnes of unlockables and you've got a great game with heaps of value.
